RESUMO

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: The process of removing ceramic veneers is difficult, time consuming, and invasive. However, although lasers should provide a straightforward method for the debonding of ceramic veneers, a systematic review is lacking. PURPOSE: The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate the efficacy of the laser-assisted debonding of ceramic veneers. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A systematic search was conducted in Medline/PubMed, Cochrane, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. Then, an analysis was performed using the meta-analysis approach to investigate the efficacy of the laser-assisted debonding of ceramic veneers. Quality assessment of the included articles was carried out using the Cochrane Collaboration tool. For the meta-analysis, the RevMan 5.4 software program was used to perform a random-effects model of standardized mean differences with 95% confidence intervals. RESULTS: A total of 1108 studies were identified, of which 627 studies were selected for title and abstract analysis. The qualitative analysis included 16 studies, of which 3 studies were used in the quantitative synthesis. In the meta-analysis, the shear bond strength of the laser groups was compared with that of the control group. A substantial level of heterogeneity was noted in the included studies (I2=67%, P<.001). CONCLUSIONS: The findings suggest that erbium lasers have a significant immediate effect in decreasing the shear bond strength of ceramic veneers. Furthermore, with proper laser settings, veneers can be safely removed without damaging the underlying tooth structure.

This review aims to report the current literature on the status of ferrule in root-filled teeth, classify the different types of ferrules, highlight the biomechanical failures due to inadequate ferrule effect, and discuss the current restorative concepts according to the ferrule design principles.

La céramique est utilisée depuis longtemps en dentisterie. Elle est considérée comme le matériau le plus esthétique. Les céramiques sont devenues de plus en plus populaires comme matériaux de restauration en raison de leurs esthétique, leurs inertie et leurs biocompatibilité. De nombreux différents types de systèmes céramiques ont été introduits ces dernières années qui pourraient être utilisés pour des restaurations indirectes. Ils peuvent être déroutants pour le clinicien de les connaître et de faire le choix par la suite. Il est important de les comprendre de façon simple. Leur compréhension pourrait être facile en se basant sur le développement historique, la structure chimique et leurs applications. Cependant, les problèmes majeurs de la céramique sont leur fragilité et leur susceptibilité aux fractures [Lawn etal. 2001]1, [Griggs., 2007]2. Les couts financiers pour le développement d'une céramique résistante aux fractures et esthétique sont élevés : la couronne européenne et le marché FDP avaient approché 2 milliards de dollars en 2007 [Millennium ResearchGroup ; 2007]3 ;la couronne mondiale et le marchéFDP était estimé à 25 milliards de dollars en 2010 et à plus de 30 milliards de dollars en 2015 [Palmer., 2010]4. Cet article fournit un aperçu de la céramique dentaire qui est présenté d'une manière simplificatrice permettant une compréhension de leur développement
